Have you ever wanted to extend your season at a lake with magical views and a fantastic atmosphere? Or are you someone who travels on their own, but wants to meet like-minded people? Do you love cultural cities?
These are just a few reasons to visit Xtreme Gene Wakeboard and Waterski. The site is the dream of Matthew and Debbie Southam and is located on a stunning lake in the heart of Andalucia in Almodovar Del Rio, close to the cultural city of Cordoba. Almodovar is a typical Spanish town with a number of good restaurants and an amazing historic castle which has recently appeared in Game of Thrones and “High Garden”.
The site offers great lakeside cabin accommodation, an honesty bar and restaurant providing breakfast, lunch, dinners on request and themed barbecue and paella nights. You can also choose to stay in villas on the lake or in the lovely village of Almodovar. A hire car is recommended. Debbie manages all the bookings and requests and will make sure that you have a great time and stay in the most appropriate place for you. The views of the lake from the site are stunning.
Matthew Southam is the Head Ski Coach. He has coached various national teams in all disciplines and has a PB of 2@10.25. Matthew started skiing at 8 years old, he was in the British Waterski Team at the age of 10 and has numerous national titles at junior and senior levels and was ranked within the top 10 in the world. He has a relaxed and fun coaching style and speaks Spanish. During the season, guest coaches from all over the world join Matthew to coach.
The lake has 3 slalom courses located in different areas and runs two Centurion boats for skiing. At the beginning of the day, skiers are told what time to meet down on the main dock. Depending on the amount of skiers, and the wind conditions, you will ski on one of 3 courses to ensure the best possible conditions. Skiing levels vary from complete beginners, those who can run the course and want to improve, and some serious short-line skiers.
As well as water skiing, you can wake board and also try wake surfing behind an Air Nautique. There is so much more to do in the area other than our beloved water sport activities, but equally, the camp is so relaxing that, after your skiing day, you can chill there with a cold drink, taking in the spectacular views and sunsets.
The location of the camp means that you can potentially start your season as early as March and finish as late as November. Not to worry if you don’t have ski mates to go with, this site is well known for it’s great hospitality, with a lot of clients’ becoming personal friends of Matthew and Debbie’s, and lone travellers can always meet like minded people here if they want to. The site also welcomes lots of families and caters well for kids and ski groups.
XG is home from home. It’s a holiday with water skiing, boarding and surfing, but also so much more. The relaxed and friendly nature means that you can take a deep breath when you arrive and wind down.
